-> MEN'S GROUP
Meets once a month from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM
Attendance is free.
The meeting date each month is not fixed, so contact Jim for the next meeting time or join our Email newsletter list.
-> What
is this Men's Group?
The purpose of the group is to bring men together to discuss questions, concepts, ideas that typically don't get
covered in general discussions, and to keep those discussions open, supportive, and non-personal. With this atmosphere of openness
some deep discussions can occur, and new insight is possible.
Examples of topics include:
-- Spirituality -
What does it mean and how do I pursue it? Do I have to be a religious person?
-- The changing roles of men in family. Who is
the breadwinner and who is the homemaker, and can the roles be shared or even reversed? Is the difference important?
-- Loss
of a Loved One. You are not alone. We offer support, understanding, and shared experiences.
-- Is there true evil in the
world, or is there something else going on with people who do horrible things to others?
-- Personal relationships can be
complex. Where is the balance between sharing our lives with loved ones, versus losing our individuality and building resentment through
perceived lost opportunities or perceived loss of "power"?
-- Ego: It gives us individuality but at times that can work
against us as we strive for balance in our life. How do we tame the Ego so that it is our servant and not our master?
There
are no right or wrong answers, only discussions and different points of view. Each person is entitled to their opinion. We explore,
share, and learn while honoring the individual. Jim Pietruszka is the moderator of the group, but the group sets its own agenda
and follows a simple set of guidelines.
-- This not a therapy group. Alternative points of view may be offered, but
each person is responsible for their own lives and addressing their own problems.
-- Each person's views and beliefs
are honored. There may be differences of opinion, but we all agree to disagree.
-- All group members have equal voice.
Each person's input is important.
-- We respect the privacy of group members and agree to hold private any personal
information that is discussed.
Think of the group, and yourself, as potential "Life" mentors. Come to our meeting, give a little
insight, and also gain a little insight of yourself. Come join us. All men are welcome.
Contact Jim Pietruszka if you
have questions or want to know the date of our next meeting.
